Our wonderful team of tutors are positive, encouraging, empowering, and have a genuine passion for helping students build confidence in learning. Our tutors create engaging lessons and integrate hands-on, pen-to-paper learning experiences to ensure your child not only gains new knowledge and skills, but genuinely enjoys their online tutoring sessions.
Our tutors are selected by Melissa, not only for their expertise and tutoring skills, but also because of their values & mission in education and their genuine passion and ability to connect with students in a compassionate, motivating and empowering way.
Tutors go through a thorough application process including Police Vetting.
Melissa
Founder/Director/ Head Tutor
Year 5-8 Math & Reading Tutor.
Melissa founded The Tutor Co. (formerly named The Tutor Room) in 2016. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Teaching, Diploma in Sport & Recreation (Coaching) and is a trained Sounds-Write Structured Literacy Practitioner.
Melissa believes in the transformative power of online tutoring, she believes that EVERY student has the ability to go far in what ever they decide to pursue and she believes that EVERY student deserves to be empowered by their educators through acknowledgment, appreciation, compassion, patience, empathy as well as a solid teaching process.
Melissa's mission in life is to teach and empower students and encourage life long learning.
Amy
Year 7, 8, 9, 10, NCEA Level 1 Maths Tutor.

Amy has been a part of the team since 2017. She holds a Bachelor of Education (Primary) specialising in Montessori Education as well as a Diploma in Sport & Recreation.
Amy is a kind, compassionate tutor who has the ability to create a calm and encouraging learning environment. She is able to connect with students in a way where students naturally let their guard down.
Amy personally believes that learning occurs when a prepared environment is created that fosters the fundamental needs of every individual. I want to support students by creating an environment where their interests and passions can guide their learning, allowing them to feel confident and succeed in school.
Samantha
Year 7, 8, 9, 10 & NCEA Maths & General Science Tutor.

Samantha is an amazing tutor with expertise in Maths, Science & Physics. She has just completed her PhD in Medical Physics as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Physics and Mathematics and an Honours Degree in Medical Physics.
Samantha has a strong passion for educating and helping the younger generation, particularly in the two subjects often thought of as the scariest.
She is determined to make Mathematics and Physics understandable and fun for everyone, and has proven she can do this!
When She is not problem-solving and looking at numbers she is usually at the gym, hanging out with friends, or baking some delicious date scones.
Sophia
Year 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 & 10

Sophia is a passionate tutor who strives for the best in every single lesson, with every single student.
She is currently in her third year of her Bachelor Degree in Education (Primary) and has a passion for teaching students in years 5 through to year 8, mathematical concepts in a way that they understand.

Sophia is a whizz with technology and always makes the most of our online tutoring platform to create engaging lessons filled with warm up games, revision and of course new concepts in the sequence of Mathematics.

Sophia strives to be an educator that helps students realise their true capabilities and that they can achieve anything!
Dana
Year 9,10, NCEA Math, Science & Physics Tutor

Dana is a wonderful, caring and nurturing tutor who has a knack of breaking concepts down to allow students to grasp and learn.
Dana is a motivated second-year mechanical engineering (BE Hons) student at the University of Waikato with great mathematical and academical aptitude. She has a passion for Maths, Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry.
During her time as a high school student, Dana had the privilege of participating in her high school's academic peer tutoring program, where she volunteered as a physics and calculus tutor for students preparing for NCEA examinations.
Not only does Dana have the expertise but she has walked the walk and now helps students do the same through tutoring. Dana is an amazing role model.
Daniel
Year 9, 10 & NCEA Math & Science Tutor

Daniel is an excellent tutor and role model for his students, he always ensures that is students are heard and supported.
He is currently a medical student based at the University of Otago, Wellington Campus.
Daniel has been helping students thrive through tutoring for 7 years.
Daniel mentions that he loves to see the development of students and allowing them to reach their academic goals.
Tutoring has allowed him to really connect with students and create focused sessions relating to specific areas of the curriculum that they want to cover or need the most assistance in.
Daniel is passionate about supporting year 7 -10 students in Maths as well as NCEA Level 1 Mathematics, Science, Physics/Chemistry, Biology
and NCEA Level 2 Biology.
Amber
Year 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 & NCEA Math Tutor
Amber is a vibrant, nurturing and empowering tutor who has the ability to help students feel at ease in their learning.
Amber has a Bachelor of Arts, major in Education and Psychology, minor in Linguistics and being on the Dean’s list of academic excellence in 2018 and 2019. Amber is now working towards her Master of Teaching and Learning, endorsed in Primary
Amber has also had experience as a teacher aide & has a passion for making learning enjoyable for everyone, and decided to become a tutor because she loves the 1:1 learning environment, allowing the time to build and create a supportive and fun tutor-student rapport.
